I am calling on all residents of Havering to be mindful and to stay alert to the dangers of Covid-19.
Sky News recently have reported that Havering is an ‘at-risk’ area. (https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-bradford-and-london-boroughs-among-36-at-risk-areas-that-could-be-just-days-away-from-local-lockdowns-12018594) As the country begins to ease restrictions on lockdown it is important to remember that not every where is the country is at the same level, so it is important that we continue to follow the Governments guidelines on social distancing and hygiene.
I urge people to continue to wash their hands regularly to stop the spread of the virus. If you have any symptoms of coronavirus (a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste) then please do stay at home and apply for a testing kit. Now more than ever we need people to follow the rules and get tested.
I know that many people worry about not working due to having symptoms but for the sake of your family, friends, work colleagues and community do not go to work if you have symptoms. Myself and my office will be there to help anyone who needs support and advice during this time and you can also contact your local councillors who are also very happy to help you get the support you need.
Just like the Prime Minster said only a few weeks ago ‘we must emulate the spirit of Romford’ to defeat this virus, this is true now more than ever. We must all play our part in this national effort and we will beat coronavirus.
