Amidst reports from people across Romford and Havering about unacceptably long waiting time for blood tests, Andrew Rosindell M.P. has written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock M.P. calling for his personal intervention to ensure that “anyone who needs a blood test can get one as soon as possible”, without weeks and months of delays!
In the letter, Andrew Rosindell M.P. highlights complaints from constituents that “it currently takes as long as three months to get a blood test, compared to 24 hours before the pandemic.” Often constituents are told “they will have to travel long distances.”
He adds: “I am very concerned about the impact of these delays on my constituents’ health and I am demanding that action is taken to ensure local people get the blood tests they need within a reasonable time. A few days is what I would expect. Weeks and months is wholly unacceptable and people could die as a result!”
The M.P. is also asking his constituents to get in touch via e-mail to [email protected] if they have direct experience of problems relating to blood tests, but they must include their full details, name, address and contact information.
Andrew Rosindell said:
“I have made my views known to our local NHS Trust and I have also raised this issue directly with the Health Secretary in a letter sent on the 8th of October. This is a dangerous situation for many people who need to know if they are suffering from a serious illness and I am not prepared to let this problem continue without protest.
I am very concerned about the impact of these delays on my constituents’ health and I am demanding that action is taken to ensure local people get the blood tests they need within a reasonable time. A few days is what I would expect. Weeks and months is wholly unacceptable and people could die as a result!
If I do not get a satisfactory response quickly, I will take this matter directly to the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.
