Earlier today, Andrew Rosindell M.P. wrote to the Prime Minister calling on him to abolish frozen pensions abroad.
It is completely unfair that Britons who have contributed to the economy and communities of this country, are forbade their rightful increases in state pension just because they have chosen to reside in a different country.
In the letter, Andrew stated: "The frozen pensions policy is especially unfair to those who have retired in countries with high costs of living. A British pensioner living in Australia, for example, may find that their pension is barely enough to cover the cost of necessities. This can lead to financial hardship and even poverty."
He added, "I am aware that the government is currently reviewing this policy, and I urge you to take action to scrap it. The frozen pensions policy is not only economically unjust, but it is also morally wrong. British subjects living abroad have paid into the U.K. pension system all their lives, and they deserve to receive the full benefits of that system."
