Andrew Rosindell M.P. has written to the Education Secretary, The Rt Hon. Gillian Keegan M.P., regarding what the Government is doing to maximise the support for children during their first 1,001 days of life.
This period sets a child's foundations for life, therefore, the encouraging of skills acquisition through language & numeracy is an investment in not only the child's future, but the nation's future.
In the letter, Mr Rosindell said:
"It has been proven scientifically, that early life stimulation significantly improves the development of the brain, leading to much enhanced motor, cognitive, and social abilities.
For this reason, I think that there is so much to be gained from a resolute policy which encourages the acquisition of skills from an early age, whilst action is taken for supporting parents financially, so that every child has the opportunity for educational growth at the beginning of their life.
I am aware that the Government has the 'Best Start for Life' Initiative, to ensure that all children enjoy the best start in life they can, but I would be interested to know what more can be done to significantly support children in their first 1,001 days."
