In light of Havering Council's decision to prohibit the Jewish community of Romford from celebrating Hanukkah with a public menorah, Andrew Rosindell M.P. has written to the leader of the council, Cllr. Ray Morgon, stating his views on the matter.
In the letter, Mr Rosindell made mention that this is "a matter of religious freedom" and that it "has nothing to do with current affairs in the Middle East."
"It is imperative that we collectively show support for the British Jewish community, and I hope that the Council does indeed plan to permit and enable public celebration of this traditional holiday".
