In addition to Andrew's campaign to see a meaningful refurbishment of the Gallows Corner flyover, Andrew Rosindell M.P. along side Cllr. Keith Prince, Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge, appeared together at Gallows Corner to further discuss what more can be done to safeguard drivers and to improve the area.
More must be done from City Hall to mount pressure for change.
Andrew has been persisting in urging the Government to assist in contributing significant financial support to a refurbishment. His most recent move was to write to the Secretary of State for Transport, which can be read in full here.
On social media, Andrew had the following to say:
At the Gallows Corner flyover with London Assembly Member for Havering and Squirrels Heath Ward councillor, @KeithPrinceAM - it is great we have Keith in ‘City Hall’ speaking up for Romford against Mayor Khan’s neglect of our borough, of which Gallows Corner is a prime example!
The Havering Daily also ran a piece on this meeting having this to say:
The Member of Parliament for Romford, Essex, Andrew Rosindell, has once again voiced his concerns about the deteriorating state of the Gallows Corner junction and flyover in Romford. In a recent social media post, Mr Rosindell, joined by London Assembly Member Keith Prince, pictured at the site of Gallows Corner, expressed gratitude for Mr Prince’s dedication to this cause in the face of what he termed “Mayor Khan’s neglect” of the borough.
This follows Mr Rosindell’s formal outreach to the Rt Hon. Mark Harper MP, Secretary of State for Transport. In a letter in October, Rosindell highlighted the urgent need for financial support to address the longstanding issues plaguing Gallows Corner. The current junction, in use for over 50 years, is notorious for its traffic congestion and safety concerns, making it one of the riskiest road sections in the South-East.
Rosindell emphasised that Transport for London (TfL) has warned of a potential closure of the existing structure by 2025, posing severe consequences for the community. While TfL has sought £50 million in government funding for Gallows Corner’s revamp, Rosindell cautioned that this might fall short of fully replacing the structure.Calling for a dedicated allocation from the £1 billion government funding pool for road projects, Rosindell stressed the critical importance of prioritising Gallows Corner’s replacement. Such an investment, he argued, would not only enhance safety but also benefit the economic and social fabric of the Havering and Essex communities.
