Romford Conservative candidate Andrew Rosindell kicks off campaign
Mr Rosindell, a staunch supporter of Brexit, has held the seat for Romford since 2001 and met with voters at Romford Market.
In 2015’s general election, Mr Rosindell gained 25,067 votes with a majority of 14,799 - a slight decrease on his majority of 16,954 in 2010.
“I was very happy to coincide our local Conservative campaign launch with St George’s Day in our historic street market,” he said.
“Having grown up in Romford, not a day goes by when I am not grateful and honoured to represent the area.
“I was gratefully surprised by the warm reception I received from constituents on Saturday, especially from former Ukip and Labour voters.
“It is becoming clear that Brexit and the need for a stable government are the key topics on the doorstep.”
A snap general election was called by Theresa May on April 18 and she was backed by MPs by a majority of 522 to 13.
The country will head to the polls on June 8.
