Today, we have learned that Havering Council has decided to close Gidea Park, despite rigorous opposition from Andrew Rosindell M.P., Havering's Conservative councillors, and hundreds of residents who signed Andrew's petition to keep the library open.
Andrew stated on social media:
I am devastated to learn that despite overwhelming opposition from local people, Havering Council @LBofHavering have still decided to close Gidea Park Library from 1st April 2025. 24 years ago, I led the successful local campaign against the then Labour Council's plans to shut our library and did so again last year, with a Labour and Residents' Association administration back in control of our Town Hall. This time it looks like our community will be ignored by those in power. It's a shameful and shortsighted decision and as Romford's MP, I will carry on the fight to #SaveGideaParkLibrary
Andrew Rosindell M.P., Member of Parliament for Romford
