I was delighted to appear at the Havering Islamic Cultural Centre, to speak about the importance of political engagement in the Muslim community, particularly on the level of local councils. – and extremely peased to see the event so well attended, with standing room only by the time we began.
I’ve been working with the centre for 20 years now and I think that events like Saturday’s are what make Havering such a united, happy, community. We are so lucky to live in a borough where there aren’t divides based on class, religion or ethnicity – we are all British, and we all want what is best for our home of Havering.
