Today, Andrew Rosindell M.P., alongside Cllrs. Christine Vickery, Nisha Patel, Dilip Patel, David Taylor, Michael White, our London Assembly Member, Cllr. Keith Prince A.M., and the Mayor of Havering, launched the Romford Poppy Appeal in the Mercury Shopping Centre.
This is an annual tradition to raise money to support our Armed Forces through financial support, advice, employment, mobility, and mental health.
Speaking to the crowd assembled for the Poppy Appeal launch, Andrew said the following:
This is a significant day and a significant moment for our nation as we remember those who fought and died for the freedom of our country. The Poppy Appeal is so vital because the money raised goes to those who have given us the freedom and liberties that we enjoy today. Sometimes in which today we sadly take for granted. Democracy isn’t free, it has to be fought for, defended and cherished. I thank all the veterans in Havering who have fought many battles and those who in the future will choose to do so. We stand with them, we salute them and we thank them for all they have done for our country.
Andrew stated the following on social media:
As Romford's MP, I was proud to join local veterans this week to launch the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal for Havering at Mercury Mall Shopping Centre @themercurymall with @MayorOfHavering. We must always remember our fallen heroes, who gave us the freedom we have today and wear the poppy with pride!
