Andrew Rosindell, Member of Parliament for Romford, has written to the Chief Executive of Havering Council over a recent incident which saw an elderely woman fined £150 for dropping a piece of paper.
In the letter, Andrew calls on a review of how these fines are distributed and whether it is necessary for a private contracter to be assessing whether fines should be distributed.
"Local people deserve to be treated with respect and compassion, especially by those who are supposed to be enforcing the law.
I hope that you will take the necessary steps to ensure that this type of incident never happens again and would request more information about how enforcement in Romford Town Centre is operated."
