I have written to the Home Secretary, The Rt. Hon. Priti Patel M.P. asking her to take immediate action to secure our borders against Covid-19. The only people travelling to the U.K. at the moment should be stranded British citizens returning home, or those coming here for an essential purpose. Mandatory screening measures at the border must also be imposed to help reduce the spread of the virus. If our agricultural sector needs fruit pickers and help to harvest the produce of the land, let there be a national call for help from within Britain, instead of requiring overseas labour to risk the safety of themselves and others to travel to the U.K. With so many people not working, let us do whatever we can at this time to keep Britain going!
