This week was yet another week for Andrew Rosindell M.P. on his 'M.P. Street Calls,' visiting every road in the constituency, and discussing local and national matters with local residents.
On Tuesday 30th January, Andrew was out in Chase Cross alongside Mawney's Conservative councillor, Cllr. Carol Smith (pictured above). Posting the following on social media, Andrew said:
Out and about in Chase Cross and Collier Row, visiting local people and taking a personal letter and information card to all homes throughout the area. Good to hear views on local and national issues that matter to residents. Wonderful to be accompanied by Cllr. Carol Smith (Mawneys Ward).
The subsequent Friday (2nd February), Andrew accompanied Cllr. Judith Holt around St. Alban's Ward, in the areas between Victoria Road and Brentwood Road. St. Alban's is unique in Romford as there are only two councillors representing the ward, but despite being one person down, Judith does a magnificent job.
My regular programme of visiting every street in Romford continues… this time meeting residents of the ‘New Century’ area, which are the roads between Victoria Road and Brentwood Road. Lots of local issues raised with me and hard-working local councillor, Cllr. Judith Holt (St.Alban’s Ward)!
The weekend was then spent again in Mawneys Ward in Collier Row and Chase Cross. A common issue on the ground for residents was the overwhelming discomfort with Labour Mayor, Sadiq Khan's intention to construct more highrises in the local area.
Out and about on the ‘Battleships’ estate, Collier Row, visiting residents and seeing many old friends, discussing local and national issues, including dismay and anger over Mayor Khan’s control over Havering and Labour’s plans to build more ugly highrise blocks in Romford! With Labour(and allies) in power in Havering Town Hall, we have to redouble our fight to ‘Keep Havering a Town and Country Borough’!
M.P. street calls are also an opportunity for Andrew to meet small business owners who keep the constituency alive. One example is 'Tracey's' on White Hart Lane. Andrew had the following to say:
I love popping into “Tracey’s” along White Hart Lane for a coffee and snack when I am out and about in Collier Row, as I was yesterday. Tracey is so welcoming and you’re guaranteed good food and refreshments at a reasonable price. Great to see the new smiling St. Valentine’s Day Bear on display!
