Andrew Rosindell M.P. has announced his involvement in two amendments to the Nationality and Borders Bill relating to Hong Kong and one relating to the Chagos Islands.
One of the amendments, which he has tabled himself, would extend Right of Abode to U.K.-Hongkong servicemen, a long-standing issue which Andrew has campaigned on for a decade. This amendment, known as New Clause 4, has been signed by Andrew Rosindell, Jim Shannon, Margaret Ferrier, Stuart C McDonald, Sir Jeffrey M Donaldson, Carol Monaghan, Sammy Wilson, Tommy Sheppard, Sir Iain Duncan Smith.
In addition, Andrew has signed an amendment tabled by Damian Green, which would extend BN(O) visa status to those born after 1997. At present, only those born before 1997 are eligible for BN(O) passports.
Andrew has also signed an amendment which would grant British citizenship to Chagossians. Andrew Rosindell is currently the Chair of the Chagos Islands APPG.
Andrew Rosindell M.P. said:
"As well as toughening up our borders, the Nationality and Borders Bill goes some way in redressing historic wrongs in British nationality law. However, there are undoubtedly gaps, most clearly in the case of the Chagossians and Hong Kongers. I'm proud to be supporting these three amendments, one of which I tabled."
