The Government has announced that a new Community Diagnostic Centre (C.D.C.) will be opening in Hornchurch in December 2023. The C.D.C. will be located at Suttons Lane and will provide a range of diagnostic tests and scans, including C.T., M.R.I., ultrasound, X-ray, echocardiology, E.C.G., spirometry and FeNO.
The C.D.C. is part of the government's plan to tackle the COVID-19 backlog in elective care. C.D.C.s are designed to increase diagnostic capacity and reduce waiting times, by providing tests and scans closer to home. This will make it easier for patients to access the care they need, without having to travel long distances.
The C.D.C. in Hornchurch will be able to deliver up to 38,166 checks, tests and scans a year. This will make a significant difference to the availability of diagnostic services in the area.
I am grateful to the government for approving this new C.D.C. It is a much-needed investment in our health services and will help to improve the quality of care for patients in Hornchurch and the surrounding area.
I will continue to work with the government to ensure that our NHS is able to provide the best possible care for our constituents.
