Leading the fight for change
"Next month, the people of Romford can make a judgement on Sadiq Khan’s tenure as Mayor of London. The significance of this decision on our Capital City and the wider region of ‘Greater London’, including Havering, is enormous. We need to get it right!
Sadiq Khan's time as Mayor has been marred by a string of failures, leaving boroughs like Havering, feeling disillusioned and angry. From soaring crime rates, the burdensome ULEZ tax, pressure to build ever more high-rise developments in towns like Romford, to adopting obsessive woke ideology, Khan's leadership has consistently gone against the interests of people of Havering. We have been given a very raw daw from City Hall right from the start, after Tony Blair resurrected regional government across Greater London. It is time to demand something better that suite the needs of a ‘town and country borough’, with and a strong Essex identity.
Violent crime has surged under Khan and instead of taking decisive action to tackle this crisis, he has chosen to bury his head in the sand. Romford has not received the police allocation we need, allowing our streets to become battlegrounds by London’s criminals. This starkly contrasts with the family-friendly environment I remember from my childhood in our beloved town.
Khan's divisive rhetoric has only served to further polarise London. Instead of fostering unity and cooperation, he has chosen to sow seeds of discord and division, pitting communities against each other for his own political gain. A good example is the renaming of the London Overground lines - The Liberty Line thankfully being the only exception - Khan has shown a total disregard for our great British history and the traditional values of London. Sadiq Khan is not the leader London needs or deserves. His track record is abysmal. We must vote for change on 2nd May and Susan Hall is ready to do the job. She has my full support. Susan has pledged to repeal the ULEZ expansion from day one, halt the construction of soulless tower blocks and take radical action to combat crime. This is exactly what the people of Havering want.
In the long term, complete reform of the outdated concept of ‘Greater London’ is needed, with power restored to local towns and boroughs, keeping our money to spend in our communities rather than spent in inner London, but with the Freedom Pass and Oyster Card extended more widely for people in the whole of the TfL network, from Shenfield to Reading and Epping to Watford. Change will come and as your M.P, I will lead the fight for this!"
