Andrew Rosindell M.P. has released a statement on today's High Court ruling. If the courts will not stop U.L.E.Z., a Conservative Mayor must!
"I am beyond disappointment that the High Court has ruled that the Mayor of London's ULEZ expansion is lawful. I believe that this expansion is catastrophic, unfair and will disproportionately impact the poorest households in 'Greater London'.
Mayor Khan has ignored the voices of the people that he is supposedly representing and has punished them by imposing this ridiculous one-size-fits-all approach to tackling pollution.
Places like Romford will have to pay a daily charge to merely drive their cars within the expanded zone. This will be an enormous financial burden for many people, especially those who are already struggling to make ends meet.
Many businesses rely on deliveries by van or lorry, and the ULEZ expansion will make it more expensive, and in some cases, impossible for them to operate. This will inevitably lead to job losses and a decline in economic activity in outer London.
For too long, City Hall have ignored the cultural similarities places like Romford have with its Essex neighbours. Now, people across the borough will be tolled just to visit loved ones in their own county. It is now imperative that we elect Susan Hall as a Conservative Mayor to eradicate this destructive policy and to bring much needed reform to how London is governed."
