Tribute from Andrew Rosindell M.P. following the tragic passing of Rabbi Lee Sunderland of the Romford and District Synagogue:
Earlier today, I learned of the heartbreaking news that Romford’s beloved Rabbi, The Rev. Lee Sunderland, had tragically passed away. This deeply sad day marks the loss of a remarkable individual who was more than a religious leader; he was a cherished friend and a steadfast advocate for the religious freedoms we hold dear. Rabbi Sunderland was a pillar of our community, dedicating his life to his faith and the fostering of unity amongst all people. His commitment to these principles has left an indelible mark on the community of Romford. Throughout my time as Member of Parliament, Rabbi Sunderland stood by my side, offering wisdom, support and friendship during the most challenging times. I owe him an immeasurable debt of gratitude for the advice he gave. As Honorary Vice-President of the Romford Conservative Association, Rabbi Sunderland brought not only leadership, but also his boundless energy and dedication. His contributions were invaluable, and his presence was a source of inspiration to us all who had the pleasure of listening to him speak. Today, Romford mourns the loss of a true champion and a compassionate soul. Rabbi Lee Sunderland’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him and in the countless lives he touched. His memory will forever be a guiding light to remind us of the power of faith and friendship. We will miss him. Romford has lost a friend.
