Job Details
Andrew Rosindell M.P. is looking for a Constituency Support Officer, based in his Romford Office, to help deal with a rise in COVID-19 related issues and support his constituency work and community outreach. This is a temporary contract (12/14 months)
Familiarity with the Romford constituency is highly desirable, and local candidates will be looked upon favourably. A track record of support for the Conservative Party’s aims and values would also be desirable.
The successful candidate will be independent, pro-active and hardworking, with strong communicational, organisational, and inter-personal skills. They must be literate and have working knowledge of relevant policy issues and their impact on the constituency.
The job will involve:
- Community outreach and organising events in the constituency.
- Working on local campaigns and political issues.
- Co-ordinating the M.P.’s communications and information plan across the constituency.
- Liaising with councillors and the M.P.’s team at the Constituency Office
- Engaging with local organisations, businesses, the voluntary sector and others on behalf of the MP.
- Accompanying the M.P. on constituency visits and special events.
- Providing information and advice to constituents on a wide range of issues.
- Dealing with some general casework where required.
- Organising and attending constituency surgeries with the M.P.
- Assisting the M.P. with other duties as required.
The successful applicant will have:
- Experience of dealing with members of the public or local communities.
- Very high levels of self-organisation, a strong work ethic and the capacity to deal with large workloads.
- Ability to work independently and take the initiative.
- A willingness to work long hours if necessary, with some evening work and weekends.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
