Andrew was among a small number of M.P.s, vets, and animal welfare activists who this week gathered in the House of Commons to celebrate the progress made on animal welfare issues and to discuss the some of the challenges facing the all those who work for the welfare of animals, in the year ahead.
As the former Shadow Minister for Animal Welfare, Andrew was pleased to meet experts in the field of animal care and particularly pleased to meet the B.V.A. President, John Blackwell.
The event, was hosted by Neil Parish M.P. and included discussions on issues such as badger culling, non-stun slaughter, responsible dog ownership, antimicrobial resistance and the legal recognition of the title of ‘veterinary nurse’.
Following the event, Andrew said:
“Its great to be able to attend the British Veterinary Association and Animal Welfare Foundation reception once again. I will always support their work on animal welfare issues and will continue to work with them throughout the next five years of the Parliament. Britain is nation of animal lovers and Romford has an M.P. is will always fight for the welfare of the animals with whom we share this planet.”
