The Brookside Theatre, Eastern Road, will be back in action again, when it reopens next month.
The first production will be a brand new musical adventure based on Beatrix Potter’s lovable rascal, Peter Rabbit. Top tributes shows include Get Back – The Story of the Beatles, One Night of Tom Jones, The Jerry Lee Lewis Story, starring Brookside favourite Peter Gill as the man himself, Michael Jackson The Legacy, The Rod Stewart Songbook and a brand new theatre show, An Audience with Gary Borlow. There will also celebrity performances by Cheryl Baker, the welcome return of National Treasure, Richard Digance and later in the year, the legendary Tommy Canon and friends take to the stage in a nostalgic and unmissable night of comedy, Laugh Me A Laugh.
Aside from a fantastic year of events planned, the theatre are proud to announce newly refurbished toilets and Kiosk now selling freshly ground coffee and specialty teas, with many more exciting developments in the pipeline.
Theatre founder and artistic director, Jai Sepple said: “We cannot wait to open our doors once again. It’s been a long journey through a truly difficult year but we are finally looking forward to welcoming back friends and patrons with a renewed confidence and appetite for live performance, reaffirming our place as the cultural hub of Romford. With the kind assistance of local companies such as Capital Window Doctor (capitalwindowdoctor.co.uk), Laser Essex Ltd. and Sound Choice Hire Ltd., there has been so much work happening throughout lockdown to improve facilities at the theatre and I am really pleased that we can look to a bright future, announcing forthcoming productions. I’d also like to thank those that have kindly donated to the theatre in anyway.”
The Brookside Theatre are currently running a crowdfunding appeal to raise money to replace the windows throughout. Any and all donations are appreciated and if you would like to help please visit www.spacehive.com/brookside-theatre-window-appeal.
