Sadiq Khan is the Mayor of broken promises, he is the Mayor of failure and he is the Mayor of incompetence.
The tube strikes this week will only add to the pain of commuting which has been inflicted by Mr. Khan with his hard-hitting fare increases for TfL services.
We need to face the facts, Sadiq Khan has bankrupted Transport for London, he is going to war with Greater London motorists to pay for that and now he is trying to blame the government for his failure.
Of course, he has tried to blame the Government for his mismanagement of Transport for London, but in truth, he has only himself to blame for the financial black hole which has been created in TfL’s accounts.
Under Mayor Khan, the number of days of strikes since he was first elected Mayor in May 2016 would this week surpass the joint total under the previous 16 years of Ken Livingstone’s and Boris Johnson’s Mayoralties.
The Mayor won his last election and the one prior to that, by promising to freeze TfL fares and he has backtracked on this promise less than a year after he was returned to City Hall, with fares are going up by nearly 5%.
He has already sold out on that promise previously as he only froze TfL fares instead of all Greater London fares, therefore those who use travel cards were hit by gigantic increases during the first few years of the Mayor’s administration.
