What a marvellous weekend it has been in Romford as we came together to celebrate the Coronation of the King and Queen! Our town was alive with joy and patriotism as residents organised vibrant events, displaying our unwavering support for the monarchy.
One of the standout moments was the magnificent concert at Raphael Park's Bandstand. Supported by Music for Youth and led by Havering Music, talented young musicians graced the stage, delivering performances of immense talent. Their dedication and skill were truly commendable, adding grandeur to this auspicious occasion. Congratulations to all the participants for making it an unforgettable celebration!
St. Edward The Confessor Church in Romford Market Place held a delightful gathering in honour of the Coronation. Led by Father David Simpson, the Vicar of Romford, the service resounded with patriotic hymns, including "I Vow To Thee My Country," "Jerusalem," and "God Save The King!" The congregation sang with pride and reverence and we enjoyed Coronation cakes to mark the joyous occasion!
However, celebrations were not confined to specific venues; they spilled out onto the streets of Romford and Hornchurch. Union Jack flags fluttered proudly, accompanied by lively music and fantastic street parties. Our neighbours and volunteers went above and beyond to organise these events, fostering unity and camaraderie. It is a testament to the patriotic spirit that runs deep in our community.
As the Member of Parliament for Romford, I am immensely proud to represent such a patriotic constituency.
