Statement from Andrew Rosindell M.P. on a recent visit made by British Hong Kong Armed Forces Veterans:
"British-Hong Kong Armed Forces Veterans loyally served King, Queen, and Country in the former Crown Colony of Hong Kong, and deserve recognition equal to that of all other servicemen and women.
Thankfully, our long campaign won them the right to abode through the new British-Hong King Armed Forces Veterans Settlement route in recognition of their service of and commitment to this great country.
This week, I was honoured to have arranged a tour of the Houses of Parliament for the veterans, and to join them for dinner in China Town in London to celebrate our successful campaign for their right of abode.
Following the dinner, Mr Alan Chan kindly wrote: ‘We are deeply indebted to you for your unwavering support and dedication. Your efforts have not only secured the Right of Abode for HKMSC veterans but have also restored our sense of belonging and pride in serving the United Kingdom.’
I was truly humbled by their recognition of my participation in the campaign but take greater pride in their restored sense of belonging to the United Kingdom which ought never to be threatened again!"
