In light of his contributions in the House of Commons in recent months, written questions to ministers, and letters to Departmental heads, Andrew Rosindell M.P. has written the following statement on the persecution of Christians across the globe.
Across the globe, individuals and communities face relentless persecution, discrimination, and violence solely because of their Christian faith. Whether this is at home in the West where Christian political leaders are demonised, public prayer is admonished, and our Churches vandalised, or in those parts of the world where being a Christian could mean life or death. As a nation built upon a Christian ethos, we have a duty speak out against this injustice.
In recent months, I have been in correspondence with the Foreign Secretary, Lord Cameron, regarding the ongoing onslaught of Christians in Nigeria and I have also supported my friend and colleague, Fiona Bruce's bill to institutionalise the position of Prime Minister's Envoy on Freedom of Religion and Belief, a position which she has served with grace and passion. Furthermore, I have collaborated with colleagues and stakeholders to mobilise support and petition His Majesty's Government to take decisive action, particularly in regions like South Sudan, Pakistan, India, and Nigeria where persecution persists.
However, our work is far from over. I call upon all concerned citizens, community leaders, and faith-based organisations to join hands in solidarity with persecuted Christians, at home and abroad. Together, let us raise our voices, mobilise resources, and urge governments and international bodies to prioritise the protection of religious freedom and belief for all.
